Application
Procedures
|
All Services NAF positions are continuously open for recruitment.
This means that you can apply for any one of our current positions, regardless
if the position is vacant or not.
|
|
1. The
application/resume or separate sheet of paper must describe all experience,
education and training to indicate ability to perform duties specified. The NAF
Human Resources Office will provide all the documents necessary to apply.
|
|
The application form
OF 612,
OF 306,
Supplemental Questionnaire for Nonappropriated
Fund, and the Preference Eligibility Form must be completed for each position
you are applying for. Please read #17, sign and date #17a on the OF 306 form.
Your application stays on file for 90 days unless you request to extend your
application within this initial 90-day period. When completing
the Optional Form 306, mark N/A over the check boxes of questions 7A and 7B
(Selective Service Registration).

You
may
include a resume and attach it to the OF 612.
You will need
to complete the job title, employer’s name, and supervisor’s name and phone in
Section 8-1 and 8-2 of the OF 612, but can annotate “Please see attached resume”
in the duties and accomplishments section.
|
|
You may make
copies of the forms, but ensure you have original signatures and dates on each
one submitted. It’s a good idea to retain the unsigned master copy for future
applications.
|
|
Include all
experience that relates to the position you are applying for, even if it was
only on a volunteer or non-paid basis.
|
|
If you are a
military spouse, you may apply for
Military Spouse Preference (MSP).
To claim MSP, you must include a copy of your military sponsor’s orders and the MSP form
with your application.
|
|
All
Off-Duty Military must complete an AF Form 3902, Off Duty Employment
Application. IMT viewer is required to access this form. The viewer can be
downloaded from
http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/viewerdownload.asp. You can also
contact your immediate supervisor or the Human Resources Office to obtain this
form. Once completed it must be turned in to the NAF HRO prior to being
appointed to their NAF position.

If you are a
military veteran, you may apply for Veteran's Preference. To claim
Veteran's Preference you must attach your DD-214 MEMBER 4 COPY with your
application.
|
|
For
those prior military members who do not have the Member 4 Copy of their DD 214,
you may go to the National Archives Center website,
http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html
and request a copy be sent to you. Please ensure that you specifically request
the Member 4 copy.
|
|
Current
NAF Employees will need to complete an AF Form 2550, please ensure that your
supervisor signs it before forwarding to our office. Your application will stay
on file for as long you are a NAF employee, unless you request to remove it. IMT
Viewer is required to access this form. The viewer can be downloaded from
http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/viewerdownload.asp. You can also
contact your immediate supervisor or the Human Resources Office to obtain this
form.

A copy of your
high school diploma is required when applying for a position that involves
working with children under the age of 18 (e.g. any position at the Child
Development Center or Youth Center), you must also complete a
NAF Supplemental Application form for working with
children and
Acknowledgement of Rights and Consent
to Release Records Form, to submit
with your application.
|
|
If you are
applying for a School Age Program Assistant, in addition to the forms mentioned
above, you must complete a
Continuation Form for Motor Vehicle Operator
and submit a current original of your driving record.
|
|
2. Knowledge, Skills
and Abilities (KSA’S): KSA’s are the specific characteristics that
candidates must possess in order to perform the major duties of the position.
Qualified applicants will be evaluated on the degree to which they possess the
KSA’s.
|
|
3. Selection: Vacancies are filled by the best qualified as
determined by the selecting official. This determination may be made
solely by application review, but can include an interview.
|
Please note: In order to complete these forms on the screen,
you must have
Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader version
7.0 or above. If you
have the Acrobat software configured as a web browser plug-in application you
can fill-out and print the form within your web browser. If you are using the
free Acrobat Reader software, however, you cannot save the form with the fill-in
data for use at a later time. You will need to use the purchased version of
Adobe Acrobat in order to do this. The free reader software will, however, allow
you to save the blank form itself for use at a later time if you are using the
filler software as a web browser plug-in application.

Employment Categories |
|
|
Regular Position: Employees are guaranteed 20 hours and a maximum
of 40 hours per workweek, and receive benefits.
|
|
Flexible Position:
Employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity.
These employees may work a minimum of zero hours a maximum of 40 hours per
workweek, but do not receive benefits. |
|
|
|
**All
positions require working flexible hours possibly including nights, weekends,
and holidays.**
